Wild Patagonia – The Adventure of a Lifetime!
Our lovely client Anna from Italy, who did our Wild Patagonia ride in February this year, tells us all
about her equestrian adventure in remote Argentina.
My experience with Equus Journeys in Patagonia was nothing short of extraordinary — truly the
adventure of a lifetime. The wild, untamed beauty of Patagonia, combined with the challenge of
a true expedition, made this journey unforgettable.
A true immersion in the wild
This was not a luxury trip — far from it. We embraced the raw, rugged nature of the wilderness.
But that was exactly what made it so special. It was a true immersion in the wild, where every
moment felt authentic and deeply connected to the land.
The horses were exceptional — strong, sure-footed, and perfectly suited for the demanding
Patagonian terrain. It was clear they were well cared for, and their endurance and reliability
made even the toughest trails feel manageable.
Mine was Camachuil! It means “Yellowjacket” in indigenous language. I loved him. He was super
strong, tall, and the fastest in the group. He always wanted to trot and the last day when we
galloped he was really happy. I trusted him with my life. He really knew where to put his feet!
The guides were fantastic—knowledgeable, professional, and truly passionate about what they
do. Their expertise, combined with their warmth and hospitality, made me feel completely at
ease throughout the journey. They really cared about the horses and it was quite amazing to see
how they are part of the family for them.
The part in Sapucai - glamping - was UNREAL. Fresh meals, a comfortable bed, we were
spoiled from the morning to the night. The camp part was really raw. Adventurous yes - but hard.
We slept in old tents (the zip was not working so mine was basically open) with no mattress or
pillows. We slept in the sleeping bags, on smelly and sweaty saddle pads.
An unforgettable experience
A special mention goes to Elizabeth from Equus Journeys, who prepared me thoroughly for what
to expect. Thanks to her guidance, I knew this trip would be challenging and remote, and that
allowed me to fully embrace the experience without surprises. The only advice I can give is, for
next time, add a camping mat and pillow to the list of things to bring!
If you’re looking for a true adventure, where nature is wild, conditions are rough, and every day
pushes you beyond your comfort zone, then this is the trip for you. It exceeded all my
expectations, leaving me with memories that will last a lifetime.
