Amazing Beach Rides Around the World – From Morocco to Iceland
Do you
dream of cantering along wide stretches of open beach, with the ocean waves
crashing or lapping gently beside you? At Equus Journeys we have plenty of beachy trails on offer all over the world, from the dazzling white sands of
Mozambique and the sunny seasides of Spain, to the golden coastline of southern Morocco
and the wild shores of Iceland. Here’s our round-up of some fabulous beach rides for 2025 and 2026:
SOUTH
AFRICA: Wild Coast Trail

When you imagine South Africa, you might automatically think of safaris and bush trails,
and yet here you can find some of the most beautiful beach riding
in the world! On our ride, you can explore the rugged and unspoiled natural
beauty of the wild coast: cantering down deserted beaches, passing gorges and
gullies, enjoying spectacular scenery and stopping at coastal hotels along the
way. This trip is ideal for experienced riders who enjoy exciting riding, with
long gallops and lots of adventure!
MOZAMBIQUE:
African Paradise

Gorgeous sunsets, sparkling turquoise waters and white-sand shorelines: Mozambique is a
destination for paradise lovers. On this wonderful holiday, you will enjoy plenty of
beach canters in addition to splashy walks through the tranquil ocean, peaceful
hacks through the coconut tree forests, trails through bush and villages, and a
fantastic ride up the ‘red dunes’ for an incredible view of the Indian Ocean
coastline. You’ll also ride on the beautiful Benguerra Island and enjoy
a magical sunset canoe trip. This is a once-in-a-lifetime riding holiday, not
to be missed.
FRANCE: Beaches
of Camargue

In France,
the region of Camargue offers everything from bays and rivers, to marshes and
meadows. On this 5-day trail, you will discover the wildlife hidden
deep within the marshes and open stretched meadows, observe French cowboys
herding cattle, explore the winding tracks of the national park, and, most
importantly, take advantage of some lovely hacks across the clear white
beaches of the Mediterranean. You can also make the most of the delicious
homemade cuisine on offer on this mini adventure between land and sea.
MOROCCO: Moroccan Ranch

Nestled between the coast and the mini-Atlas peaks of southern Morocco, lies a colourful and cosy ranch that is just waiting for beach lovers to come and ride. On our centre-based trip, you can enjoy long, exhilarating canters down the country’s wild Atlantic Ocean coastline, hack along the soft sand dunes with beautiful sea views, and embark on a day trip into the mountains behind. When you’re not riding, you can laze in the sunshine on one of the ranch’s many terraces, surrounded by exotic plants, or nourish yourself with delicious home-cooked Moroccan food. You can also indulge in a relaxing hammam or massage, try your hand at paragliding or visit nearby towns for souvenirs or surfing.
DENMARK:
Romo Island

Surrounded by the sea, with hundreds of small islands and over
7,400 km of coastline, Denmark is the ideal destination for a beach riding
holiday. It is also said to be one of the flattest countries in the world, making
its beaches ideal for long and exhilarating canters!Intermediate and experienced riders can discover the beauty
of Denmark's island of Rømø and its beautiful coastline on our fun but relaxing
programme. The trip typically includes a three-hour ride on Icelandic
horses down the popular Sonderstrand beach, where experienced riders may be
able to swim with their horses (if the weather is suitable). It also includes plenty
of other rides with ocean views, and a trip past one the largest beaches in
Europe, Lalolk. For those who want to unwind, they can also use the equestrian
farm's pools and sauna, and maybe even book a massage!
SPAIN: Virgin Beaches of Andalucia

If you love beaches and Spanish culture, we have the perfect trail for you! In the heart of the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, a region renowned for its natural beauty, you will discover some of the hidden gems of Spain, ride along white sand beaches (including one of Spain’s most famous, Genoveses beach) and enjoy the bright blue waters of hidden bays. You’ll also pass through villages that witnessed the era of piracy in the Mediterranean, ride through the Rodalquilar valley, marvel at mountain views and enjoy delicious Spanish food – including a traditional paella! Fun fact: beaches in this region of Spain were famously used as the filming location for Hollywood hits such as Indiana Jones!
ICELAND:
Snaefellsnes Beach Trail

This active riding tour in the heart of the
Snæfellsjökull National Park is your chance to experience wonderful Icelandic
horses and their magical extra gait ‘the tölt’, while riding along miles of wide-open
sandy beaches! However, be prepared for the light sand turn black as you ride
closer to the Eldborg crater! The trail will also take you through lava fields
and past the glacier-covered, conical volcano of Snaefellsjokull (one of the
most recognised sites in Iceland). The Snaefellsnes peninsula is actually known
as "Iceland in a nutshell" due to its diversity of landscapes.
MADAGASCAR:
Coastal Trail

If you choose to discover the island of Madagascar on
horseback, you are sure to find some beach riding! On the coastal
trail, the lush green scenery gives way to the blue of the Indian Ocean, which breaks
over long stretches of gallop-worthy beaches. But Madagascar offers more than
beach riding -- you’ll also get to camp in the heart of this magnificent island
and embrace the local way of life in the country's more remote areas. Of
course, no trip to Madagascar would be complete without an introduction to the
Lemurs (which are unique to the island) on a private Lemur reserve, where you
can spend some time interacting with these incredible species.
